Mr F from Larne has been awarded £11,250 in compensation after making a hearing loss claim against FG Wilson/Caterpillar.

Overview

  • Mr F was employed by FG Wilson in a variety of roles for nearly 30 years.
  • Mr F had noticed he was missing out on conversations with family and that he had difficulty with the telephone.
  • We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss claim.
  • Mr F was awarded £11,250 in compensation for his hearing loss.

The Case

Mr F went to work for FG Wilson in the premises located in Larne. He was exposed to significant noise from the tools he operated as well as his colleagues operating noisy CNC machines within his vicinity. Mr F recalls having to raise his voice in order to be heard by colleagues over the machinery but he was not provided with any sufficient hearing protection.

The Claim

Mr F Contacted Reid Black Solicitors, after speaking with a former colleague who told him his difficulties could be connected to his employment.

Our solicitor Danielle Catterson contacted Mr F and began to compile evidence to make a claim on his behalf. Mr F attended an appointment with an ENT consultant, who advised him that all the difficulties he was experiencing with his hearing were as a result of the noise he was exposed to whilst working for FG Wilson.

The Settlement

Solicitors were appointed to act on behalf of FG Wilson and once all medical evidence and supporting documentation was served, Danielle entered into negotiations and Mr F was offered compensation in the sum of £11,250.
