Mrs M from Strabane has been awarded £8,900 in compensation after making a hearing loss claim against Herdman’s Mill.
- Mrs M was employed by Herdmans for 11 years.
- Mrs M noticed her hearing had deteriorated since leaving Herdmans and she would have difficulty hearing in a crowded environment.
- We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss Claim.
- Mrs M was awarded £8,900 in compensation for her hearing loss.
The Case
Mrs M began working in Herdmans in 1985 and worked there for just under 10 years as a winder. During the course of her employment, Mrs M was exposed to loud noise from the large winding machines on a daily basis and was not provided with any hearing protection.
The Claim
Mrs M contacted Reid Black Solicitors to discuss a potential hearing loss claim after learning that her hearing difficulties may be connected to her employment.
Our Solicitor Danielle Catterson compiled evidence on Mrs M’s behalf and arranged for her to attend with an ENT consultant and undergo a hearing test. The medical evidence obtained confirmed Mrs M’s hearing loss which was caused by excessive noise exposure without appropriate hearing protection.
The Settlement
Medical evidence was thereafter served on Herdman’s insurers and solicitors were appointed. Negotiations were thereafter entered into and after some back and forth, Mrs M ultimately received £8,900 in compensation, with her legal costs also being paid by the insurers.
