Mrs L from Castlederg has been awarded £16,250 in compensation after making a hearing loss claim against Herdman’s Mill.

  • Mrs L was employed by Herdmans in Sion Mills for 13 years.
  • Mrs L noticed that her hearing was deteriorating and also began to notice a ringing in her ears.
  • We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss Claim.
  • Mrs L was awarded £16,250 in compensation for her hearing loss and tinnitus.

The Case

Mrs L began working in Herdmans in 1984 when she was just 17. She was employed as a spinner in the spinning room. She was exposed to significant noise from the machinery in the mill on a daily basis, and yet, her employer never provided her with any ear protection.

The Claim

Mrs L contacted Reid Black Solicitors to discuss a potential hearing loss claim after being told about us by a former colleague who we also assisted in a claim.

Our Solicitor Danielle Catterson arranged for Mrs L to attend with an ENT consultant who attributed both her hearing loss and tinnitus to her time working in Herdmans.

The Settlement

Medical evidence was served on Herdman’s Solicitors and they thereafter obtained their own medical report. Once this was received, Danielle entered into settlement negotiations and successfully obtained Mrs L £16,250 in compensation.
