Mrs E from Limavady has been awarded £8,925 in compensation for her noise induced hearing loss sustained whilst working for Daintifyt.
Overview
- Mrs E was employed by Daintifyt as a machinist for over 12 years.
- Mrs E noticed her hearing was deteriorating and she would often find herself increasing the volume on the TV and telephone.
- We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss claim.
- Mrs E was awarded £8,925 in compensation for her hearing loss.
The Case
Like many, Mrs E left school and went straight into the Daintifyt factory. She worked here full time, operating sewing machines. Despite operating noisy machinery every day, and being surrounded by many colleagues doing the same, Mrs E was never provided with any hearing protection by her employer.
The Claim
Mrs E was advised by a previous colleague that her hearing difficulties may be related to her employment in the factory. After realising this, Mrs E got in touch with our solicitor Danielle Catterson.
Danielle arranged for Mrs E to attend with an ENT Consultant, who examined her and determined that her hearing difficulties were in fact caused because of the significant noise she was exposed to whilst working for Daintifyt.
The Settlement
Following discussions with Daintifyt’s insurers we ultimately had to issue proceedings. Danielle thereafter served Mrs E’s medical evidence and employment records and ultimately secured Mrs E £8,925 in damages.
