Mr J from Newtownabbey has been awarded £14,500 in compensation after making a hearing loss claim against Bombardier/Shorts.
- Mr J was employed by Bombardier as a fitter for 15 years.
- Mr J noticed difficulty hearing in crowded situations and had occasional ringing in his ears.
- We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss Claim.
- Mr J was awarded £14,500 in compensation for his hearing loss and tinnitus.
The Case
Mr J began working in Bombardier in the 90s as an apprentice and then he continued his employment there as a fitter. Mr J was regularly exposed to noise from machinery and despite these elevated noise levels Mr J was not provided with sufficient hearing protection.
The Claim
After discussing his hearing loss with previous colleagues, Mr J became aware that his hearing difficulties, and tinnitus, may have been caused by his noise exposure over the years with Bombardier.
After obtaining relevant employment and medical records, we arranged for Mr J to be examined by an ENT consultant, who concluded that the entirety of Mr J’s hearing problems and tinnitus were caused as a result of his noise exposure with Bombardier.
The Settlement
After serving medical evidence on Bombardier, Solicitors were appointed to act on their behalf, and it was arranged for Mr J to attend with a defence medical expert who agreed with our own medical assessment. Danielle conducted negotiations on behalf of Mr J and a settlement figure of £14,500 was agreed.
