Mr I from Belfast has been awarded £18,750 in compensation after making a hearing loss claim against Bombardier/Shorts.

  • Mr I was employed by Bombardier as a fitter for 10 years.
  • Mr I noticed a drop in his hearing since his employment and wondered whether this would be connected to this noise exposure.
  • We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss Claim.
  • Mr I was awarded £18,750 in compensation for his hearing loss and tinnitus.

The Case

Mr I worked in Bombardier from 2001-2011. He would have been exposed to elevated noise for up to 10 hours per day, 5 days per week, but never received any sufficient hearing protection.

The Claim

Mr I Contacted Reid Black Solicitors, to enquire as to whether the hearing loss he was experiencing could in any way be connected to his employment.

Our solicitor Danielle Catterson contacted Mr I and arranged for him to be examined by an ENT consultant. The medical expert agreed that some of Mr I’s hearing difficulties, and his tinnitus, were in fact as a result of the noise he was exposed to in Bombardier.

The Settlement

Solicitors were appointed to act on behalf of Bombardier and they instructed their own medical expert to examine Mr I, who agreed with our own assessment and found that Mr I’s hearing had been damaged due to the noise exposure.

Following negotiations, a figure of £18,750 was offered to Mr I, an amount which he was pleased to accept.
