Mr D from Newtownabbey has been awarded £17,500 in compensation after making a hearing loss claim against FG Wilson/Caterpillar.
Overview
- Mr D was employed by FG Wilson as a fabricator welder for over 20 years.
- Mr D noticed his hearing wasn’t what it used to be and he would have difficulty in crowded environments.
- We were contacted to pursue a Noise Induced Hearing Loss claim.
- Mr D was awarded £17,500 in compensation for his hearing loss and tinnitus.
The Case
Mr D went to work in FG Wilson at the age of 20. He was exposed to significant noise in both their Springvale and Larne premises. Despite Mr D being in this noisy environment, 8-10 hours per day, his employer never provided him with any effective hearing protection.
The Claim
Mr D Contacted Reid Black Solicitors, to enquire as to whether the hearing loss he was experiencing could in any way be connected to his employment.
Our solicitor Danielle Catterson contacted Mr D and arranged for him to be examined by an ENT consultant. It was concluded by the medical expert that the entirety of Mr D’s hearing problems, and tinnitus, were caused as a result of the noise he was exposed to whilst employed by FG Wilson.
The Settlement
Solicitors were appointed to act on behalf of FG Wilson and they thereafter sought medical evidence from their own appointed expert. Once this was received, Danielle entered into negotiations and Mr D was offered compensation in the sum of £17,500.
Mr D was delighted with the result and has since referred many previous colleagues to Danielle, who have also been suffering with their hearing following their employment with FG Wilson.
