The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 establish data protection laws in Northern Ireland. This legislation sets out the rules and regulations that organisations including the police (PSNI) have to observe when they collect, use or store personal information.
You could be eligible to make a claim for a data breach if you are harmed because:

  • An organisation failed to properly safeguard your data, leading to unauthorised access
  • An organisation used your data in a way that did not adhere to one of the lawful bases

In a claim for a data breach, compensation can be sought for either the financial harm the breach causes you or how it affects you mentally.

If you have been affected by the PSNI data breach, contact us today for further guidance or visit our data breach claims page for more information.
